Glenn Gross (aka Glennbo) founder of FAT JACK’S BBQ is considered one of the TOP Pitmasters in the world, as evidenced by his recent appearance on the nationally recognized HIT TV series BBQ PITMASTERS on Destination America Network, competing against the best of the best in the BBQ world. As a Pitmaster, Glenn has traveled the country on the “BBQ Circuit” and has won over 200 awards and Grand Championships for his mouth-watering “Q”. A pretty GREAT accomplishment for a guy from Philly!! He is an outstanding gourmet chef and cook with an exceptional palette and his culinary skills are 2nd to none!! He has also judged COUNTLESS cooking and BBQ competitions. Fat Jack’s BBQ currently has restaurants in Northeast Philly and Jenkintown, PA, and is currently building restaurants in Ithaca NY, Hamilton, NJ, and Frazier, PA.
With over 48 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Glenn founded Fat Jack’s BBQ in 1993. His exceptional knowledge of BBQ, the BBQ industry, smoking foods, cooking, and the restaurant/franchising business are unprecedented. Prior to starting Fat Jack’s BBQ, Glenn was COO/President of The Great American Hospitality Group, and prior was Vice President of Operations for Liberty Food Systems, a Philadelphia based Quick Serve/Fast Food restaurant chain. Glenn has held single and multi-unit operations positions for several local and national restaurant chains. His extensive food service background also includes management positions with well known Full Service and Fast Food chains.
In addition to being a self taught chef and cook, in the beginning of his food service career, Glenn spent many years with Marriott Corporation, as a Supervisor, Chef and Trainer. Glenn has taught restaurant management, cooking, restaurant business planning and start-up at Philadelphia’s JNA Food Service Academy, and has developed a portion of the curriculum for the school. Glenn was on the faculty as an associate professor at Drexel University, having developed the Franchise Operations Management curriculum for the University. Glenn has also taught Food Service and cooking at the High School Vocational Education and Adult Education levels, and has done operational consulting for major hotel and restaurant chains throughout the country. He has catered for President Bill Clinton, The Philadelphia Phillies, Major League Baseball, The Philadelphia Eagles, and head Coach Andy Reid, Kenny Chesney, Eddie Money, and many, many more celebrities, not to mention some of the top fortune 500 Companies in the country
In addition to his day to day operational responsibilities at Fat Jack’s BBQ, Glenn appears regularly on Good Day Philadelphia” for Fox29/Philadelphia, doing food segments for the show. Glenn most recently appeared doing live BBQ segments on PHL17’s Eye Opener Morning Show. Glenn/Fat Jack’s has been featured on The Food Network, and Glenn has co-hosted The Glen MacNow Show on 610WIP Radio. Glenn has appeared on both The Dennis & Judy Show and the Jersey Guy Show on NJ 101.5 as well as most other Philly radio stations. Glenn has become widely recognized in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area as “the BBQ Expert.” and Fat Jack’s as the premier BBQ restaurant in the region. (not to mention the fact that he is an accomplished restaurateur, gourmet chef a TRUE Pitmaster, and an all around GREAT guy!!). In fact, Glenn has conducted BBQ, grilling and cooking demonstrations for Bloomingdales, , Macy’s and many more such venues. Glenn will be doing BBQ demos at Harrah’s at the Atlantic City Food & Wine Festival in July.
